Jeffrey Beck: Hiking Mount Olympus

It is the ambitious attempt of an amazing body transformation. Fitness professional Jeffrey Beck calls it The Dylan Project, and explains: "I will be training Dylan, a heart transplant recipient, for several months and he has agreed to have his progress documented on video." The project includes a comprehensive, professional exercise and nutrition program, with regular updates of Dylan's weight and body measurements. The striking variety of the exercise routine is shown by the latest installment. Jeffrey: "Dylan and I test our might on one of the most challenging hiking trails in Utah: Mount Olympus." Hiking is good for burning calories and overall stress reduction. Mount Olympus' elevation is 9,026 feet. The total distance round trip is roughly 6.4 miles. Jeffrey and Dylan tackle the mountain:

Jeffrey Beck: Monday Motivational

Fitness, fun, philosophy: This is Jeffrey Beck's very special mixture. In case Monday is your hardest day for motivation, the fitness model and personal trainer has launched a new series on his website www.jbeckfitness.com. The segment is called "Monday Motivational", and is a combination of images and some personal, wise and witty lines. This is not only a motivation for getting in shape and staying fit, but also for managing life. And sometimes it is simply funny.

Jeffrey is doing the segment every Monday "to kick off the week right". You find "Monday Motivational" here: http://www.jbeckfitness.com/blog.aspx

Also new: a deadlifting video. Motivation expert Jeffrey says: "It's short so there is no excuse not to watch it."

Jeffrey Beck's Record

He is a bodybuilder with so many qualities. Ripped, smart, ironic - and creative: Jeffrey Beck has re-launched his website www.jbeckfitness.com, and he did the design work himself. The result is impressive: gallery, workout video downloads, blog, training information, store, opportunity to contact Jeffrey, and much more.

And then the fitness trainer and model shows that he is a truly strong man. In a video Jeffrey attempts to improve on his previous dips max, and wants to break his record of 52 dips:

Jeffrey Beck: Mr. World Physique

Personal trainer and fitness model Jeffrey Beck is named Mr. World Physique August 2009. You can read a comprehensive interview with him on WorldPhysique.com. Here are the best parts about his workout:

Q. What has it been like to maintain your physique? Have you done anything different lately?
The most important thing I have been doing to maintain my physique is to keep my body guessing. I never do the same workout routine from week to week. I am a firm believer in doing that because it helps to prevent plateaus and keeps your workouts from getting stale.

Q. Have you ever played any type of sports or activities?

Mainly just bodybuilding and martial arts, although basketball is my favorite sport. I try to play every now and then to switch up my cardio routine.

Q. What supplements do you currently take?
I’m trying NO-Xplode and, of course, and protein shakes. I take flaxseed oil too for the essential fatty acids. That is about it. I don’t believe in loading up with supplements.

Q. What are your stats such as height, weight, biceps, and waist?
My height is 5’10. My weight is between 185 to195 pounds. My biceps are 18 inches during off season and 16 inches during on season. My waist is34 inches.

Q. Give me an example of your diet. What do you normally eat each day?
I eat lots of protein (chicken and fish). I love red meat, but I usually only eat a steak once a month. I try to get at least 60 grams per day in the form of fat fee milk and egg whites, since they contain all nine essential amino acids, making them complete proteins. I eat brown rice and oatmeal, too, for carbohydrates.

And finally a very nice passage about his father:

Q. What do you consider to be important in life, and why?

Happiness. My father is the happiest man I have ever known. He has spent his entire life doing what he loves, which is working as a mechanic (the most honest and best one on the planet). He’s never made a lot of money and barely made enough to support the family when I was young, but he always had a smile on his face everyday. He still has that same attitude and it has been something I try to emulate in my own life.

Too Big for Calvin Klein: Jeffrey Beck and His New Site

The two funniest videos on Jeffrey Beck's new website are about Calvin Klein. In these videos Jeffrey's telling the visitor that he applied for a modeling job at Calvin Klein, but was rejected. The reason: "Too big." In fact he's not the skinny, almost starving kind of guy CK usually presents us in its promotion campaigns. Jeffrey's fault may be that he simply looks great. Who wouldn't like to have a physique like him? Jeffrey's second fault concerning CK may be that he's very funny and enjoys life. And these faults are not the only reasons why you should hurry up and visit his re-launched, fantastic website www.jbeckfitness.com/.

The site has improved a lot. It's clearly structured and has much more content now: new amazing photos and videos with Jeffrey working out and kidding, a very big store (including his new 2008 calendar), and much professional information regarding fitness, workout, nutrition, and diet. Most appreciated: You get a lot of content without being a member. Feel sure that Jeffrey offers much additional content and service for those who like to afford a membership. The price is very reasonable. But before reading on my review, you should watch Jeffrey's new "Montage" video. Then almost everything will be said, and you'll know exactly what the site is about. Well, Mr. Beck, it's time: Run Jeffrey, run!

The video shows: The man has got knowlegde. Jeffrey offers: "Do you want to lose weight, tone up or increase muscle mass? I can help you reach your goals! I will personally write up a diet and exercise plan specific to your needs. I've been able to help several people with their health and fitness goals and hope you take the time to read a few of the references provided. Don't leave your fitness future in the hands of someone unqualified! Take advantage of what I have to offer: a college education in Exercise Science and Nutrition."

The man has got passion. Jeffrey explains: "I'm passionate about staying active and being fit for the duration of my life. Playing sports helps me stay consistent with that belief. Whether I'm playing basketball, lifting weights, practicing martial arts, running for distance or doing wind sprints, maintaining my healthy lifestyle has made me an all-around athlete. Being passionate about something holds great importance in one's life. As the saying goes, 'If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything'. "

The man has got humor. Jeffrey remembers: "Ever since I was a child, my sense of humor has been the catalyst for my creativity. It always plays an important part in every story I write and tell because I believe that humor can heal everything! It helps me get through the dark clouds in life. I don't take life too seriously and realize that it's okay to laugh at myself because if I don't, everyone else will! I think Gordon B. Hinckley summed it up best when he said, 'In all of living, have much fun and laughter. Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured'.

The man has got wisdom. Jeffrey says: "Intensity: The catalyst for achieving the best in one's performance. It lies within us all and when harnessed, success will follow suit. I block out negativity because my mind is strong. Confidence rains down on me like water droplets from a blackened sky. Intimidated by no one, I will destroy anybody who tries to stop me. Doubt me, I will make you a believer. Challenge me, I will take your heart. My roadblocks become bridges to greatness. It's because of this that I can push myself past the pain threshold to force out those crucial extra reps, calmly hit the game winning shot or just get through a bad day."

Any more questions? The point is: Even without looking great, Jeffrey would be as happy as he actually is. He simlpy knows how life works and knows how to enjoy it.

Now once more to you, my dear marketing guys from Calvin Klein. I might actually buy some of your underwear, if Jeff was your model. Sorry guys, bad Christmas business in this year. You'd better think about it once more. O.k., the guy can't change his pants without falling as he's showing us several times in his slapstick videos. But I'm pretty sure I would buy the clothes anyway. Or even for exactly that reason.

DVD Review: Jeffrey Beck's Workout

Nothing worse can happen to a young bodybuilder like Jeffrey Beck than this scene: Jeff's mom appears in the gym and brings her son the protein shake he left at home. Finally she gives her "baby" a kiss on his cheek. The other gym guys are watching, and Jeffrey is embarrassed.

This is only one of several funny scenes on Jeffrey Beck's total body workout DVD Me, Myself, and Irony. On the DVD the 26-year-old fitness model and personal trainer shows and explains his favorite and most successful exercises, such as bench press, pull ups, clean & press, squat/lunge, calf raises, deadlift, and many more. The DVD has both: fun and professional information. Jeffrey is the man who succeeds in combining both.

Jeffrey is an entertainer, a showman. When speaking he's actually talking with the viewer. He needs no script, and there're no cuts during his explanations. He always comes to the point. His slapstick is perfectly timed.

You soon get the feeling that you profit from the DVD: from his description of the way he's doing the exercises, from his instructions to avoid damage, from his profound knowledge. Example: In every exercise he squeezes the muscle very hard at the top of the movement "to stimulate as much muscle fibres as possible. Feeling the burn is the key in all exercises, because if you're not feeling the burn, you're not building muscle or defining it."

Jeffrey reveals several of his workout secrets. He trains his abs doing crunches on the resistance ball which is good for all muscle parts: the lower, middle and upper abs. On the photos above you see him demonstrating three different forms of standing bicep curls to train inner biceps, outer biceps and forearms in one exercise. A very useful element on the DVD: For each exercise Jeffrey tells you the optimum number of sets and repetitions, always both for size and for definition (photos below). You can instantly adapt your workout routine.

Finally there's this little masterpiece of workout-comedy, or comedy-workout, which should win an Emmy. It's Jeff's explanation of rope pull downs: "I always treat my tricep workouts the same way my ex-girlfriend treated me." After this introduction he compares what should have been a romantic evening with his girlfriend, to his way of performing rope pull downs. An ingenious, very funny act. At least two Emmys for it!

In the extras of the DVD you find wonderful home video footage filmed by Richard Rossan who has already photographed the most popular young bodybuilders. You get to see private Jeffrey posing, flexing, pumping up at shootings, and doing martial arts, playing basketball and frisbee just for fun.

On the DVD Jeffrey does over a dozen exercises, and he makes over 100 grimaces. This is the special quality of the DVD, especially for our time with much vanity and pursuit of beauty everywhere: Jeff obviously enjoys to build up an impressive physique and to look great, but he could probably do without it. He loves to laugh about himself. His appeal is: Yes guys, hit the iron, feel the burn, build big muscles - but don't take it too seriously. A great message from a young guy. But who wonders - the man has a great mom.

Jeffrey Beck at His Best - Part 2

Jeffrey Beck at His Best - Part 1

"It is impossible to take a bad photo of him", Richard Rossan, the photographer of these shots here, is saying about Jeffrey Beck. But the 26-year-old bodybuilder from Utah is much more than his great physique and excellent look: He's smart, very self-aware and pretty funny. Most characteristic: his humorous and ironic approach to all aspects of life. Read the portrait about the young, fascinating muscle man in the post below.
